Description
You are looking at a Devon Tread 1 Version A, Model A0159. The engine on this watch features four internal 2-micron thin belt that spins within the case to display the time. It’s powered by a lithium polymer rechargeable cell that is charged wirelessly. The electric system runs the belts that are kept in tune with an optical technology. The hours are on the left, minutes in the center, seconds and battery life are on the bottom right. The crystal material is a hard coated polycarbonate and is scratch resistant.
The Tread 1’s unique functionally reinvents the watch, extending far beyond the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. The movement of the Tread 1 is a mesmerizing display of DEVON’s own patented system of interwoven Time Belts that displays hours, minutes and seconds in a way that’s never been seen before. Four extremely compact micro-step motors drive the movement of the four belts with the efficiency, exacting power and steadfast accuracy. The belt assemblies are mounted on a central chassis, which allows for the perfect clearance of the moving parts and also creates the illusion that the parts are floating within the case. Fiberglass reinforced nylon allows for belts that are only 2/1,000 of an inch thick while being strong and stable enough to ensure continuous accuracy.
